Do we really want to see the photos from Angelina Jolie’s baby shower?

I can’t believe someone stole the memory stick right out of her house (from a blurb in People magazine, was it?). And who says they want to be a celebrity? Haute magazine, the latest in rags on the hunt for celebrities or ones on the rise, is soliciting tidbits from established and wannabe stars. Do we really care about who stayed in what hotel? I hope it doesn’t mean we’ll see more news on when Star Jones sells the apartment with Al Reynolds.
Haute is hoping publicists will “place” their news items in Haute News, which are probably the same ones we’ll see in the established trades. If you think these pics are snapped on the fly, and you’re getting an insider’s glimpse into a-day-in-the-life, you’re fooling yourself. The sad truth is that most mornings paparazzi get a missive from a PR flack, making certain they know where his client will be buying her morning Mocha.
Those paparazzi travel to the local Starbucks, snap some pics and then sell them for a tidy profit. Everyone’s in on the game and this notice by Haute just underlies how hard it is getting to separate celebrity from real people and accomplishments. Let’s concentrate on the stories of real heroes and forget the “haute”.
