Her course, True Shield®: Verbal Self-Defense For Girls, comes out of her deep desire to empower girls to speak their mind, stand their ground, sing their song.

She has licensed the course to schools, organizations, shelters and the YWCA, Girl Scouts, Girls Inc., and Boys & Girls Clubs. What you might not know about her is that she was almost sold into slavery to a Bedouin Sheik in Israel for 10 camels and a mule.

True Shield™: Verbal Self-Defense For Girls

CJ ScarletThis program will save lives!

True Shield® is the most important training program I’ve found that teaches young women how to defend themselves in uncomfortable and downright dangerous encounters with predators. With 30 years’ experience as a victim advocate, I can confidently say this program will absolutely decrease violence by men against young women, by giving girls the tools and language they need to thwart attacks.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, females ages 16-19 are four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

I was molested and sexually assaulted as a teenager myself. I believe that if the True Shield™ program had been available to me when I was young and more vulnerable, I would have been a much tougher target for predators and would not have ultimately been victimized. This program will save lives!

Esmerelda Castillo CobianIt was really important for me to have a space where we can talk about our experiences as a way to empower ourselves.

I really enjoyed the True Shield® Verbal Self Defense Training. One of the things that stood out to me the most were the important conversations that occurred as a result of the scenarios. In particular, it was really important for me to have a space where, women especially, can talk about our experiences as a way to empower ourselves.

I thought the program was incredibly useful and easy to understand. It felt empowering to learn new ways to protect myself and I gained more confidence as well.
